Trying to figure out if the JR rail pass is worth it for our trip in April:

Starting in Osaka (3 nights)
Osaka to Kyoto (2 nights)
Kyoto to Hiroshima (2 nights)
Hiroshima to Nara (1 night)
Nara to Nagoya (or continue to Kiso Valley) ( 1 night)
Kiso Valley to Tokyo (6 Nights) With day trips to Mt. Fuji/five lakes and Nikko

Maybe the pass is worth it for the 7 days for our travels between Osaka and Tokyo? Any other information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there,

Here's a little list of ticket prices I looked up, in order to see if a JR Pass would be useful.

Kyoto - Hiroshima ¥ 11,090
Hiroshima - Nara ¥ 11,670
Nara - Nagoya ¥ 6,350
Nagoya - Tokyo ¥ 10,880

For a total of ¥ 39,990 or ¥ 10,890 in savings, as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,100.

For convenience sake I have used Nagoya, traveling to Kiso would add a bit more in ticket prices.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Yes, a 7 day pass would pay off for your itinerary, since you are going down to Hiroshima and back as well.
