Day 7- Tokyo to Hiroshima for Miyajima Island (JR Pass Activate)
Day 8- Hiroshima to Osaka
Day 9- Osaka to Kyoto

Hello and good morning from mainland Europe!

Now I don't want to spoil it beforehand but by just looking at your itinerary I can tell that you can make some very good savings. Here's a little run down.

Tokyo - Hiroshima ¥ 19,280
Hiroshima - Miyajima (return) 1,160
Hiroshima - Osaka ¥ 10,640
Osaka - Kyoto ¥ 560
Kyoto - Takayama ¥ 10,470
Takayama - Tokyo ¥ 15,220

For a total of ¥ 57,330 or ¥ 28220 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110. So I'd certainly recommend the JR Pass. (Bus between Takayama and Shirakawago is not covered by the JR Pass).

For the rest your itinerary looks great a little packed perhaps but this way you get the make the most of it.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi Kent,

I've visited both Takayama and Shirakawago in the past, both are certainly worth visiting. So next I would visit Kamikochi, it looks very beautiful almost magical from pictures.

Shirakawago is a very beautiful traditional village and worth visiting if you wish to see how people used to live in rural areas.

Takayama is also a beautiful old town to explore, offers different attractions and you can also visit an onsen.

Hope this helps making your decision,
Daniel
