From third week of May, I plan to stay between 7 to 9 nights in Japan covering Tatayama and Kurobe. My starting point can be Nagoya. I also intend to visit Kyushu island via the Shinkansen. Can anyone recomment an itinenary that I can maximize the usage of 7 day JR pass. I do not need to cover Nagoya,GIFU, Kyoto, NARA, Osaka, Hakone area. Thank you.
Mr Cheong
Hi there!
Assuming you have a 7 day JR Pass you could consider an itinerary like this.
Day 1.) Nagoya - Kurobe Alpine route, do you route stay at the end of the route
Day2 .) Travel to Hiroshima, it's not too far from Kyushu and makes for a good stop, you could also hop over to Miyajima from there.)
Day 3,4,5.) Onward to Kyushu, visit Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Beppu or a place of your own interest.
Day 6.) Travel to Kansai, visit either Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto.
Day 7.) Return to Nagoya.
Hope this gives you an idea! It would certainly be making good use of your JR Pass.
Daniel
Thank you.. In May, is it practical to make day trip from Nagoya to Tatayama.
Yes I don't see why not. You would spend a couple of hours in the train but the trip is very pleasant to make.
Re the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, what is appropriate time to cover a leisurely tour starting from Toyama station to Ogizawa.I plan to be in Toyama by third week of May. Thank you.
Hi Cheong,
I think a full day is what you would require, to really enjoy the route. I'd suggest starting around 8 am to get around. Sometimes paths can get crowded, or you may want to explore some of the side routes. Because of this I would recommend starting as early as possible.
Daniel san, thank you very much.
