Hi Daniel and JR Travelers,

I am posting a new thread just in case you missed my old thread.
I will spend 4 nights in Kyushu and make Fukuoka for my base.

My itinerary as follow:

  • 3N in Fukuoka : will be traveling each day to Nagasaki / Kumamoto / Kagoshima / Ibusuki (for sand bath) as day trip
  • 1N in Beppu
  • Day 5: heading to Hiroshima by Shinkansen from Hakata station.

I would like to check if the above itinerary will be ok ?
How to arrange the trip to Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Ibusuki as a day trip from Fukuoka (my base) and which transport should I take ?
Are they covered by Nationwide JR pass ?

Really appreciate for your help.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Kyushu is the best! You should go 4 months instead!

Joking aside, I think I answered your old questions already. The JR Pass covers all JR lines in Kyushu, which gives you access to all the places you wish to visit. Travel to Hiroshima is also included.

We have a great map that you can use to get a feel for the distances involved and the number of JR lines.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

I think make Kumamoto or Kagoshima as base. Cheaper & less crowded. Easy with JR Pass

Hi Daniel,

Yes, 4 months if i can earn money there for living...hahaha

Thanks a lot as usual for your great advice.

Hi HA,

I made Fukuoka as base because I see all trips in my itinerary mostly start from Hakata station.
However 19 Sep is public holiday in Japan, hard to get decent price for the hotel during long weekend.

Thanks.
