Hi again,

There's no direct bus between Takayama and Mt Fuji. Do you know what area around Fuji you wish to visit. I am asking this because there are different approaches to Fuji and different areas around the mountain to visit.

Examples of places to visit around Fuji include Hakone, Kawaguchiko and Gotemba. I can give you the best way if you have a bit more information for me on what you wish to visit around Fuji.

Hope to hear from you,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the reply. This is the first time we visit Japan and we do not have any idea where to visit. We like natural sceneries and would like to go for trekking . I heard about there are some nice trekking trails around Kawaguchiko that's provide some nice view of Mt. Fuji or is there any other places in Mt, Fuji that worth visiting?
Other than Mt Fuji, I will heading to Shirakawa Go and enroute to there I need to stop over at Hida Takayama or Kanazawa, are these 2 places worth visiting or maybe you can recommend any other places with beautiful sceneries?
Thanks.

Hi Ben,

Kawaguchiko is a very popular destination to visit and does indeed offer nice hikes and views of Fuji and the surrounding 5 lakes. However it is pretty hard to access from Takayama, it would be better to visit Kawaguchiko coming from Tokyo.

Hakone is also a very nice visit and offers a lot to do and see, even when Fuji is not visible because of a cloudy day. Hakone is also much more easy to access from Takayama. To travel there take the Hida wide view express to Nagoya and from there the Shinkansen to Odawara station. This is the Shinkansen station for Hakone.

Other beautiful places in the area of Takayama to consider are Matsumoto, where you can also make many great hikes and Kamikochi. Which is a national park where no cars are allowed.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

HI Daniel,
Thanks for the suggestions. I will now begin my travel in Japan from Kyoto- Kanazawa- Shirakawago- Hida Takayama- Kamikochi- Kawagichiko. I am contemplating whether to travel from Kyoto to Kanazawa or Hida Takayama, is it worth spending a night in Kanazawa? anything interesting there?

Thanks.

Ben
