Hi there,

You can use the Shinkansen directly from Shin-Osaka to Kyoto station. Either Hikari or Kodama Shinkansen trains can be used.

For Kyoto I recommend using a 500yen day bus pass. You get unlimited travel for one day, a single ride is 230yen so its easy to make savings. The Kyoto bus is the best way around the city.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi there,

You can use the JR Arashima line to Saga-Arashima station and walk from there.

From there I would use a Taxi to Kinkaku-ji but you can also use buses, here is a complete bus map.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
