Hi. We are a group of 3. We'll be staying Japan for 7 days.
Here's our ITINERARY:
Day1: arrival in Narita
Day 2-3: Tokyo tour
Day 3: Mt. Fuji
Day 4: train to Osaka
DAY 4-7 : OsakaTour
Day 7: exit Japan thru Kansai
Is a JR pass advisable or should we just get the regional passes?
JR Pass or not?
Hi,
A 7 day pass would not pay off for your itinerary. It'd be better to get regional passes and pay the regular fare for a bullet train, or take an inexpensive low cost carrier and fly on Peach or Jet Star.
For the Kansai area, don't miss Kyoto, Nara and Himeji. Since you are already seeing Tokyo, you can largely skip Osaka during the day. After the temples of Kyoto close down around 5PM, you can zip over to Osaka for the evening. At night the city comes alive and has some great places to see, such as Dotonbori, plus the night views from the Umeda Sky Bldg, and Abeno Harukas Bldg are wonderful.
