Hi there

We are travelling to Tokyo 31st December 2015. Below is our Itinerary departing Tokyo on 1st January:

Tokyo - Kyoto

Kyoto - Hiroshima

Hiroshima - Kyoto

Kyoto - Nagano

Nagano - Hakuba

Hakuba - Tokyo 13th Janauary 2016

Could you let me know if a JR pass covers all these area's, and how much of it is the bullet train.

Many thanks.

Karen

Hi Karen,

Nearly all your travel would be done by Shinkansen. The parts that are not include travel between Hakuba - Nagano. There are also two routes two Nagano from Kyoto, one via Nagoya and one via Tokyo. The last one is also fully on the Shinkansen.

The route from Kyoto - Hakuba via Nagoya is the one I would recommend. As you can travel by limited express train trough the Japanese Alps to Nagoya, there are some amazing views on this route. Including Fuji on a nice day.

The JR Pass covers all of the above rail travel you can make amazing savings with a 14 day JR Pass on the above route!

Hope this helps!
Daniel
