JR Pass - Yes or No?

I am planning a trip through Japan with the following itinerary:

Fukuoka (1d) - Nagasaki (2d) - Hiroshima (2d) - Osaka (2d) - Koyasan (1d) - Kyoto (5d) - Kanazawa (1d) - Takayama (2d) - Tokyo (5d) - Nikko (1d) - Tokyo (2d).

Now I am in doubt whether or not a JR Pass is the best way to go for transport (and if so, which one to choose?), or would it be cheaper to buy seperate tickets? Does anyone have some good suggestions? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hello there,

Let's have a look at ticket prices and find out!

Fukuoka (Hakata) - Nagasaki ¥ 4,700
Nagasaki - Hiroshima ¥ 12,990
Hiroshima - Osaka ¥ 10,230
Osaka - Kyoto ¥ 560
Kyoto - Kanazawa ¥ 6,900
Kanazawa - Takayama ¥ 5,990
Takayama - Tokyo ¥ 14,710
Tokyo - Nikko ¥ 5,580
Nikko - Tokyo ¥ 5,580

For a total of ¥ 67,240, the 21 day JR Pass is ¥ 59,350, So you will make good savings with the JR Pass. Additionally the JR Pass can be used for local travel in many instances, adding even more!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
