Hi there,

I'd be happy to give some suggestions. Could you let me know where you plan to start and where to end? This is important when planning the trip :)

Hi again,

November will be getting cold but its not winter yet. Its a good time to visit if you like to make hikes or want to see the area without getting snowed under.

If you have 5 days, then you could do something like.
1.) Hakodate to Norubetsu
2.) Nobori Betsu - Sapporo
3 and 4.) Sapporo
5.) travel back to Hakodate with stop over at lake Toya.

Would fill the 5 days completely, I do agree that a little longer would have been nice to spend in Sapporo.

What do you think?

thanks Daniel
1) the JR East hokkaido pass covers the JR from Hakodate to Norubetsu, , Lake Toya , Sapporo right ?

2) do you think I can skip Sapporo. and just spend more time Hakodate, Norubetsu, Lake Toya instead. or concentrate Hakodate and Sapporo .

3) will there be public transport to Lake Toya in Nov since winter is coming ?

Hi again,

1.) Yes!

2.) Personally I love Sapporo and is one of the best cities to visit in Japan. I would not drop it :)

3.) Yes, you can use a bus from the station to the lake.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi again,

Sorry I missed your previous post. Lake Toya can be accessed from Toya station. There are buses from there that take you to the lake in 25min.

For Sapporo:
I think taking a day to explore the city is great, walk around Odori Park and Sapporo tower, visit Sapporo Beer museum and try jingisukan (Hokkaido meet dish named after Genghis Khan) for dinner. Moerenuma Park is a very pleasant park to walk around as well but a bit far from Sapporo. If you are interested in History, then I recommend including the governor house as well (its free).

Sapporo is also great for night life, its great to just walk into a pub and talk with the locals or fellow travellers.

Otaru also makes for a great day trip from Sapporo. You can have some of the best Sashi there. I think you already had this included.

Note that Sapporo station is not in the centre of the city, its still a nice area. Just something to keep in mind.

These are sort of random thoughts but the first that come to mind with Sapporo. Hope you find them useful.
