Hi there,

For day 1&2 and local travel in Tokyo, I'd advise buying normal tickets as you don't do that much travel. Day cards can be purchased at any ticket machine if you do want one.

Day 3 - 9 look very nice and active! The JR Pass will cover nearly all of your travel. The trains to Osaka/Kyoto are the Tokaido Shinkansen. Head to Tokyo station and you can't miss them. The route is direct, so no transfers either. The Shinkansen basically is one long route and Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima are all on the route, so just get on the train when you want to and travel to the next stop. We also have a great interactive map which you can use to get a feel for the distances. Gala-Yuzawa is also reached with the Shinkansen from Tokyo, this is an other Shinkansen line than Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima but can be directly reached from Tokyo.

FujiQ is the only places not fully reachable by JR. One option is to take a bus directly from Tokyo, this is probably the most convenient but costs more. An alternative is to take the JR from Tokyo to Otsuki station and from there to Fujikyu with the (non-JR) Fujikyu line. This will cost around 1,100yen/one way. Details are all here.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
