Hi there,

For this itinerary it is advisable to buy a 7 day JR Pass. You can make considerable savings by using it to travel from Tokyo - Takayama and Kanazawa, Nagoya, Kobe and Nikko.

I would advise to visit Nikko from Tokyo, either at the start or end of your itinerary. Right now it adds a lot of unnecessary travel time by visiting it in the middle of your plan.

Enjoy Japan!
Daniel

Hi Daniel-San,
Thanks for your speedy respond!
Yes...I am planning to purchase 7 days JR pads. However I am lose when I started to plan my itinerary. First destination definitely Shirakawa-go, then last destination will be tokyo - disneyland. I have few places like what I mentioned and I am confusing how to plan it well. Appreciate your expertise please.

Hi Suetwei,

If I could make a suggestion, consider the following route.

Tokyo - Shirakawago via Kanazawa then bus to Shirakawago - Takayama - Nagoya - Kobe - Tokyo (day trip to Nikko) back home. This would give you the best route.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi again!

You can use Hyperdia to find routes and route information. Also see our blog post on how to plan with Hyperdia. You can indeed visit Fuji from either Tokyo or Nagoya. I would recommend a visit to the Hakone Region, because it is easy to access from either city.
