Hi William,

While Kawaguchiko is a beautiful place to view Fuji from, it is not practical to include it in the itinerary as it stands now. Simply because it takes too long to get there from either Kyoto, Osaka or Takayama. Instead I recommend visiting Hakone Instead. This is much easier to add in and all offers more to see and do. You could travel the route Kyoto - Takayama - Hakone - Osaka. The JR Pass does cover travel between all these places, although it can't be used within the Hakone Area. Here a I recommend using a Hakone Free Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for prompt reply and help :).

I come up to this itinerary :
Day 1. Osaka
Day2.Kyoto
Day3. Kyoto
Day4.Takayama
Day5.Takayama and day visit to Shirakawa-go
Day6.Hakone
Day7.Hakone
Day8.Hakone-Osaka
Day9.Osaka

-Is this itinerary make sense? -Do i need to take a night train (or bus) ? -If its too rush or tight, can you suggest an alternative place if i cancel Hakone and going to other shorter distance instead , because i notice it will took a loop to Tokyo if i want to go to Hakone from Takayama.or is it doable -Is JRpass will be saver for this route ?

Thank you so much !

Hi William,

Yes this would make sense! You can visit Hakone from Takayama if you take the train from Takayama - Nagoya and then to Odawara station (This is the bullet train station for Hakone). From Odawara it is easy to access all of the Hakone area. You will not have to use any night bus and I certainly recommend traveling by day.

As for ticket prices.
Kyoto - Takayama ¥ 9,960
Takayama - Odawara ¥ 12,760
Odawara - Kyoto ¥ 12,080

For a total of ¥ 34,800 or ¥ 5,700 in savings as the 7 day JR Pass is 29,100

Hope this helps :)
