Hi there,

The Nozomi service does make this trip directly but unfortunately is not covered by the JR Pass.

With the JR Pass you travel from Yokohama - Shin-Osaka and take the Sakura Shinkansen from there to Hiroshima.

Thank you Daniel-San, for your information.
We are arriving on a cruise ship into Yokohama, is it the best way to catch a taxi to Shin Yokohama to go through to Hiroshima.
We need to activate the JR pass at the station, Which line do we catch, and what times do they leave and how long does it take to get there.
Our ultimate destination is Miyajima.
Should we make a stop somewhere or is it all possible to do in the day.
We are not sure what time we will be getting off the ship at this stage.
with thanks

Hi again!

Trains depart at least every 30 minutes, so you'll have wait too long :)

The Shinkansen basically is one long line and stops at major stations on the way, such as Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka. You could make a stop at any of these before going on to Hiroshima/Miyajima. The whole trip will take around 5-6 hours, so it may be nice to have a break in between.

The easiest way may indeed be to just proceed by taxi to Shin-Yokohama.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel
We are now going to stay in Hiroshima for the first night, then spend one night on Miyajima. What I would like to know is (1) , how and where to catch a train or tram to the port to catch the ferry across to Miyajima from Hiroshima
(2) Where is the office at Shin Yokohama, for us to get our JR pass

With thanks
Jan

Hello Daniel
Could you tell me the easiest way to get to Narita airport using the JR pass.
We will be staying at Hamamatsucho
We leave on Jetstar on March 30 at 20.30 from terminal 2
With thanks Jan

Hi Jan,

Yes, the easiest way is to take the Narita Express from Narita Airport - Tokyo station and there transfer to the Yamanote line to Hamamatsucho.

To get to Miyajima, take a local train from Hiroshima station to Miyajima-guchi, there the ferry departs to Miyajima.

At Shin-Yokohama is not very large, just look for the JR Ticket office / travel center, the JR Pass can be activated there.

All the best!
Daniel
