Hi,

good afternoon.

Together with my wife, i am planning to have our first visit to Tokyo in May 2015 (later part of May)

i am going to buy JR pass (7 days), hope you can help me to make full use of the pass and advise should I buy any others pass base on my itinerary below.

Day 1: arriving Haneda airport at about 16:00 hours (japan time) and procceed to check-in the hotel in Shinjuku area

Day 2 and 3: A) JTB for one day tour to Mt Fuji, B) visit the fish Market and shopping

Day 4, 5 & 6 To Osaka (shinsaibashi area)
A) to Hiroshima and Miyajima-guchi. B) Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, C) Umeda Sky Building, D) Osaka Castle D) Shinsaibashi / Dotonbori

E) one day in Kyoto (Kiyomizu dera, Nishiki Market and Gion area), thereater proceed to Kobe before going back to Osaka or should i go to Kobe another day?

Day 7 & 8 going back to Tokyo

Day 9 home sweet home (5pm flight)

please feel free to give me your suggestion.

thanks

Hello there,

The JR Pass will be a great help for this itinerary and you can make very good savings over normal rail tickets with it.

You've also made a great selection of highlights that Japan has to offer and I am sure that you'll have a great time. If you have time, I'd also recommend a visit to Nara and to the peace memorial park and museum in Hiroshima.

Kobe is also a great city to visit. This website is great for ideas of what to do in Kobe. However I do feel that it is best to visit Kobe as a single day trip instead of a half day trip in combination with Kyoto. Both Kobe and Kyoto offer so much, that it is better to spend a full day in both.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi there,

Yes you can use all JR lines around Osaka and Tokyo. This is enough to see most cities although you may need to use other transport from time to time as well :)
