Hi! I am so happy to have come across your website! It's so helpful for tourists!

My boyfriend and I are visitng Japan together for the first time and we'll be staying from November 2-15 :)

We wanted to buy the 7-day pass for the JP rail pass and we plan on staying in tokyo for the first few days and the last few days of our trip to save money and not buy the 14 day pass (since our port of entry and exit is at Narita)

What would you recommend we do to be able to visit the ff places:

Kyoto (4 days), Osaka, Hiroshima, Hakone

We don't want to be too tired travelling from one place to another so we can actually stay overnight in all places I think? :)

Please help us in pointing out the route we should take and the stations! and if you want to add more to our itinerary, feel free to suggest places too!

More power to you and thank you very much!

Hello Patricia,

I think that you've made a very nice selection of places to visit for your first time in Japan.

Here are some of my personal favorite places to visit in each destination.

Kyoto: Be sure to visit Kyomizu-dera, this is my favorite temple in Kyoto and is build on the side of the mountains surrounding Kyoto. You can view the entire Skyline of Kyoto from there.

I would also recommend a visit to Nishiki and surrounding area additionally, Fushimi-Inari is not to be missed.

In Osaka, I would recommend visiting Shinsaibashi and the surrounding Namba area. This is great for shopping and you get a great feel of what Osaka is like. Other great visits in Osaka include the Osaka aquarium, Osaka castle and Universal city.

In Hiroshima be sure to visit the peace memorial museum and park, I would also recommend a visit Miyajima while you are in Hiroshima.

The route Kyoto (4 days), Osaka, Hiroshima, Hakone looks fine, you can make a day trip from Kyoto to Osaka as both are very close. I would however recommend staying a night in Hiroshima and Hakone.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel-san! All these suggestions are perfect! I would also like to know if it would be okay to do the trip with this route:

November 2- 6: Tokyo
November 6 - 7: Osaka
November 7 - 9: Hiroshima (trying a ryokan for 2 nights)
November 9 - 11: Kyoto (Our 2nd anniversary falls on the 11th)
November 11 - 15: Tokyo

I came up with this route because of your suggestions, you helped so much in clarifying places to go for us! Can't thank you enough!

Warmest Regards,

Patricia
