Hello,
Should I get a 7 day rail pass? Here is my itinerary:

2/2: Arrive Haneda 8:40PM. I plan to hire a taxi/van to reach my ryoken in Nozawa Onsen. Cost is Y11,400 and about 4-5 hours (http://chuotaxi.co.jp/)

2/5: Depart Nozawa Onsen for Kyoto in the evening (after a full day of skiing - maybe the 6:30 PM train)

2/9: early am departure for Tokyo (maybe the 11 AM train).

2/11: probably taxi to Haneda from Shibuya area of Tokyo.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi there!

Your train travel would include the following:
Nozawa - Kyoto ¥ 11,460
Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 13,420

or ¥ 24,880 together. The 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 28,300 so right it would be better to buy normal tickets. However the difference is quite small and the JR Pass could quickly pay of if plans change a little or you'd add a side trip.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
