Hello. We are arriving in Osaka on Jan 31 and planning to go straight to Tokyo. Spend 1-2 days in Tokyo then go to Hakone for a day trip. Head back to Tokyo before going to Kyoto then Osaka. No firmed up plans yet on the no of days for each stop however will be in Japan for 7 days.

Questions:
Will I be able to use the JR pass for all stops?
Will it be more cost effective to buy the pass?
Where else do you suggest that I go?

Thanks very much! N

Hi there,

Yes the JR Pass covers all stops and also local travel on the JR within Osaka, Tokyo and a bit in Kyoto. It's also cost effective and you would make nice savings by using the JR Pass.

The beautiful of the JR Pass is that you can just take any train you like. So making plans on the day of travel is also a possibility. If you have a day free, I would recommend a visit to either Takayama or make a day trip from Tokyo - Nikko. This would also help you make the most of the JR Pass.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
