Hello,

I am in need of a little help as to when and If I should get a Rail Pass or look into getting a Transfer to some locations.

Please see my below Itineray:

05.02.17 - Arrive at NRT at 0730 (No transer booked to hotel in Tokyo)

06.02.17 - 08.02.17 - in Tokyo

08.02.17 - FLIGHT To Sapporo (No Transfer booked to Sapporo Hotel, APA Hotel )

08.02.17 - 11.02.17 - In Sapporo

11.02.17 - 16.02.17 - in Niseko Village (No transfer booked from Sapporo to Niseko)

16.02.16 Niseko - Osaka (No flight or transfer booked from Niseko Hotel to Osaka)

16.02.17 - 19.02.17 - In Osaka (No Transfer booked to Hotel)

19.02.17 - 22.02.17 - In Tokyo (No transfer booked from Osaka to Tokyo)

I am basically hoping you are able to advise me whether or not I will be using Rail in the areas in which I have to transfers due. I would like to know where there is no Rail to be used and I will need to book private transfer. I am still wrapping my head around this Rail Pass.

Thank you in advance for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards,

Hi there,

I think your best option would be to fly from Sapporo into Osaka and buy normal rail tickets for the remainder of your trip. Doing Sapporo - Osaka in one go by rail simply is too long (over 10 hours over non stop rail travel) and once you cover that part by flying, there's not a lot of rail travel left.

There are direct bullet trains from Shin-Osaka and Kyoto stations, so no need to worry about transfers :)

Hope this helps,
Daniel
