I plan to reach Mishima Station at about 2pm and stay in Mt Fuji/Hakone area for 3 nights. Day 1. Plan to visit Fujikawaguchiko till evening. I can take bus from Mishima station. Day 2. Plan to visit Hakone surrounding Lake Ashi. Day 3. Plan to visit Tokyo and back to Mt Fuji area at night. Day 4. Leave for Hiroshima before before 12pm. Please advise the most convenient place to stay. I like guest house hotorinite but am afraid spend too much time traveling and may have no public transport to guest house hotorinite at night after coming back from Tokyo. Is it better to stay in Mishima or Gotenba or Odawara. All advice are much welcome. Thank you.

Hello there,

Traveling around Fuji and Hakone can be a bit tricky as there are many different transport companies and types of transport. While I can advise you on transport, I am not an expert on accommodations in Hakone. Looking at access options, Mishima may be a good place to stay if you want quick access on the Shinkansen but I think it may simply be nicer to stay in Hakone.

Maybe an other forum user as a better idea of where stay,

Enjoy Japan!

Dear Daniel,
Thanks alot. I shall try to stay in Hakone or Odawara. Just to double confirm. Is there any public transport from Odawara station to Hakone at night around 9pm - 10pm? I shall leave Tokyo by 8pm. Also, is there an easy way to go from Hakone to Kawaguchiko Station by public transport? If so, how frequent? And when is the last trip leaving Kawaguchiko station? Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
GC

Hi Again!

Yes, there will still be transport available between 9-10pm. It is about 36min using the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara or 90 minutes by local train. Travel to Kawaguchiko requires a couple of transfers, you can find the details here.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
