Dear Sir/Mam,

My group will be consist of 2 adult + 2 children (9 year old & 4 years old).

Here are itinerary that I've made with considering about japan transportation deals I've read:

Day 1 --> we will arrive in Osaka 08.30 in the morning and go straight to Kyoto and have 1 full day sight seeing in Kyoto (i plan to buy HARUKA&ICOCA one way 3,030 Yen - Please let me know if you have any better suggestion regarding transportation i choose) and i will go to hakone maybe around 16:00 (Please let me know best transportation to go to Hakone and where i can get it).

Day 2 --> we will be sight seeing at Hakone (i know there is transportation deals with Hakone free pass and valid for 2 days but if i enter hakone straight from Kyoto, what kind of transportation deals suite for me and where i can get it?)

Day 3 --> we will be sight seeing at hakone and try private hakone yuryo onsen and go to tokyo in the afternoon (around 16:00)

If i can not get any good transportation deals then i can change my plan e.g from Kyoto i can go straight to my hotel in Tokyo (Shinjuku area) and go to hakone from tokyo (Please give me suggest about my itinerary, which one better? go to tokyo first then hakone? or hakone on the way to tokyo?

Day 4 --> we will be sight seeing in down town tokyo

Day 5 --> we will go to Odaiba

Day 6 --> we will go to Disneyland

Day 7 --> we will go to Haneda and back to Jakarta

From my itinerary: What best transportation deals for us? combination of Haruka&ICOCA, Hakone free Pass, and Tokyo wide Pass(i know it's only valid for 3 days)?? or JR Pass (i know it's valid for 7 days)-is it worth enough for us??

Please help me to figure out best, easy, value for money transportation in Japan.

Thank you for your assistant.

Hello Effi,

Using the Haruka + Icoco package for arrival seems like the best deal to me. Then simply buy a normal ticket for the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Odawara station for Hakone.

You can use the Hakone Free Pass within Hakone and for travel to Shinjuku tokyo. It would be better to visit Hakone first as it is directly on the route from Kyoto to Tokyo.

Just use normal tickets again one you are in Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Effi,

No, the ICOCA card can only be refunded in the JR West area (mostly Kansai).

Can i buy shinkanzen train ticket using ICOCA card?
Yes but you need to do so before boarding the train.

ICOCA is mostly to make travel more convenient it is not to make savings, so it's up to you :)
