best ticket option for my 14 day trip?

Best ticket option for my 14 day trip?

Hi Everyone!

I've put together my 14 day itinerary, and now I'm trying to figure out how to best get to all these cities!

Arrive Tokyo HND 4:45am March 31, 2015

Travel around Tokyo 4 days based from Hotel Unizo Shibuya

Travel From Tokyo to Kanazawa

Travel around Kanazawa 2 days

Travel from Kanazawa to Kyoto

Travel around Kyoto for 3 days based from Hotel Okuda

Travel From Kyoto to Koyasan

Koyasan 1 night

Travel Koyasan to Yoshino (spend the day)

Travel Yoshino to Osaka

Travel from Osaka to Himeji Roundtrip

Travel around Osaka 2 days based from Hotel Crossover

Travel from Osaka to Osaka Kansari Airport April 13, 2015

Any thoughts on the JR pass vs individual tickets etc. would be very very much appreciated! Also I'm traveling during peak cherry blossom season it seems. Will trains be full? Will I need reservations, and if so how far in advance?

Thank you!

Hello there,

I had a look at your itinerary to see if a JR Pass would be useful. The Route you are traveling basically is a one way route from Tokyo to Osaka via Kanazawa, after most travel is relatively local within the Kansai Area. This is not enough in order to make savings with the JR Pass and buying normal tickets is a better option for this itinerary.

Travel during the Cherry Blossom season is a little busier than normal but it is not so crowded that seats becomes a scarcity. You could purchase tickets a day or so in advance if you really want to be sure but I don't expect seats to sell out.

Most of the routes you will travel are pretty easy. Though you may find our Hyperdia Guide useful to look up route information and ticket prices.

Hope this helps,

Thanks so much Daniel! Maybe I will look into a regional pass for Kansai (excuse the sp in the original question).
