Hi,

Me and my wife are planning to visit japan for 2 weeks.
I'm googling and read some discussion regarding how to get there and here.

I still have several question regarding transportation with JRpass,
Could you guys help me how to get there since I live in near Shin-Osaka Station for few days.

  1. Day trip ( Shin-Osaka station - Highashiyama ; Ninenzaka to Arashimaya ; Arashimaya back to Shin-Osaka Station at night)
Higashimaya Ward- Yasaka Pagoda - Kyoto Kiyomizudera Tample (Walk 2Km) Stroll at Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka (Beside Kiyomizudera Tample) Arashimaya (Bamboo Forest) Kyoto - Osaka

  2. Nagano Station to Jigokudani Monkey Park (Jrpass if possible)

and what is the most crowded time for weekdays in most city in Japan while using public transport?

Regards,

Oscar

Hi Ocasr

[Answer] For travel to Arashiyama, I would use a local JR line to Saga-Arashiyama station. You can walk from there. This means taking a local train to Kyoto from Shin-Osaka and transferring at Kyoto station. Then for travel around Kyoto, generally walking or taking a bus will be easiest.

2.) There is no JR line to Jigokudani, instead you can use the Nagano Electric railway to Yudanaka and use a local bus from there. There are also direct buses from Nagano to Jigokudani, or you could just rent a car :)

Generally trains are busy throughout the day.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
