A trip to Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka

Hi,

I am planning a trip to japan and keen to go tokyo, hakone, kyoto and osaka.

I have a few questions that would require your help please.

  1. would like to know how many days would i need to do these 4 cities comfortably? I don't want a touch and go trip.
  2. will i need the JR pass to travel to all 4 cities above? as i understand that the JR pass do not cover from tokyo to kyoto and kyoto to osaka.

thank you very much

Hi there,

I generally advise 3-4days in Tokyo, 1-2 days in Hakone 4 days in Kyoto and 2 days in Osaka. This could be a more or less depending on personal preference but this are the minimum amount of days I would suggest for getting a feel of each place.

The JR Pass does cover travel between all these places, include Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your advise.

May I know if the JR pass cover the shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto and also Kyoto to Tokyo? Or it cover only normal train rides?

Thanks

It covers the Shinkansen too! Just keep in mind that there are different shinkansen services, and the Nozomi and Mizuho service are not included, all other services are!
