Hi,
I'm planning a trip with a group of friends in June. I would like to know which is more cost-effective, 7 or 14 days JR Rail pass?

Our itinerary is
Mon, Day 1 - Land in Narita, head to Tokyo city for lunch and set off to Osaka (PM)
Tues, Day 2 - Osaka
Wed, Day 3 - Hiroshima (Might travel to Miyajima), Himeji, Osaka
Thurs, Day 4 - Nara, Kyoto (PM)
Fri, Day 5 - Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama
Sat, Day 6 - Kyoto (might travel to Kanazawa)
Sun, Day 7 - Mt Fuji, Tokyo (PM)
Mon, Day 8 onwards - Tokyo (might travel to Nikko and Tsukiji fish market)
Sun - Departing from Haneda (AM)

I appreciate every help given. Thank you.

Hello there,

Since you can do most of your travel from Day 1 - 7, it makes sense to buy a 7 day JR Pass. However you make such good savings with the JR Pass and even a 14 day JR Pass would pay off for this itinerary.

To travel to Nikko, have a look here. As there are different budget options for getting there.

Very nice itinerary btw, when reading it I showhow got the feeling of getting on the train myself to make the trip.

Hope this helps and have a great time!
Daniel
