Hi,
Can you please advise if a 7 day pass will cover my itinerary below?
Or is there an efficient way of doing this itinerary so that I don't waste time travelling?
Would appreciate your advise. Thanks!

Day 1- Central Tokyo
Day 2 - Day trip to Nikko (planning of joining a tour, or is it easy to take the train and go on our own?)
Day 3 - Eastern Tokyo
Day 4 - Western Tokyo
Day 5- Day trip to Hakone (planning of joining a tour, or is it easy to take the train and go on our own?)
Day 6 - Travel to Kyoto - Kyoto Sightseeing
Day 7 - Kyoto sightseeing
Day 8 - Day trip to Nara (Kyoto based)
Day 9 - Day trip to Osaka (Kyoto based)
Day 10 - Day trip to Himeji (Kyoto based)
Day 11 - Travel to Hiroshima then day trip to Miyajima
Day 12 - Hiroshima sightseeing then travel to Kyoto at night
Day 13 - Travel from Kyoto to Tokyo
Day 14 - Tokyo shopping then depart to Sydney at 6pm

Hi there,

I would go with a 14 day JR Pass for your itinerary. You will be traveling quite a bit and you basically need the JR Pass everywhere.

For instance, travel to Nikko is not hard and you can even ride the Shinkansen with the JR Pass for part of the way there. It also means you don't have to pay extra for a tour.

The rest of the itinerary looks great, making all the day trips from Kyoto will also get your the best out of the JR Pass.

Happy travels!
Daniel
