Here is our initial itinerary for our trip to Japan, wondering if the 7 or 14 day pass is recommended?

also do you think the schedule is too ambitious? is there something that you would leave out or add?

Sa Nov 5 – Tokyo – arrive Haneda airport - 5PM
Su 6 - Tokyo
Mo 7 – Tokyo
Tu 8 – Tokyo
We 9 – Tokyo
Th 10 – Tokyo to Kyoto
Fr 11 – Kyoto
Sa 12 - Kyoto
Su 13 - Kyoto
Mo 14 - Kyoto to Miyajima
Tu 15 - Miyajima to Hiroshima
We 16 – Hiroshima to Fukuoka (Sumo tournament)
Th 17 – Fukuoka to Osaka
Fr 18 – depart Osaka Itami airport 4PM

Thank you very much!

Hi there,

Your travel plan looks good to me. The end looks a little busy but definitely doable.

The best option for a JR Pass however is a bit better. Ideally you'd do Tokyo - Kyoto ... Fukuoka - Osaka with a 7 day JR Pass. However as the pass is counted, this is currently 8 days apart. If possible I would recommend re-planning to travel 1 day later to Kyoto and do everything with a JR Pass. Otherwise a 14 day JR Pass would be the best option, a 14 day JR Pass would still give you savings compared to purchasing normal tickets.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
