Hi,
I plan to travel Jun 2 - Jun 13, 2015; with route:
- Narita - Ueno - Ueno - Mitaka - Ueno - Ueno - Haneda (fly to Chitose - Hokkaido) ; Chitose - Asahikawa - Asahikawa - around the city, plus Furano, Biei - Asahikawa - Sapporo - Sapporo (fly to Haneda); Haneda - Ueno - Ueno - Tateyama - Tateyama - Omachi - Omachi - Ueno - Ueno - Narita Could you suggest me whether I better buy a 7 days (and only activate it for part of the itinerary), or buy 14 days JR Pass

Thanks

Hello there,

It would depend on how many days you plan to spend in each place. Could you give me a quick list of days when you stay in each place? This way I can see if a JR Pass can be matched to your itinerary.

Hope to hear from you,
Daniel

Hi Daniel san

I will arrive in Tokyo (Narita) June 2 (stay in Ueno area), June 3 going to Mitaka, June 4 fly to Chitose then go to Asahikawa. Spend June 5 and 6 around Asahikawa, visiting Furano and Biei, then move to Sapporo - perhaps going to Otaru.
I will fly back to Tokyo at June 9, then on June 10, going to Tateyama. June 11 from Tateyama enjoying the Alpine route and stay at Omachi. June 12 travel back to Tokyo then June 13 fly out of Tokyo Narita

Hello Heliana,

I had a look at the more expensive parts of your itinerary to see if a JR Pass would be useful.

Asahikawa - Sapporo ¥ 4,610
Tokyo - Toyama ¥ 12,730
Shinano-Omachi - Tokyo ¥ 7,650

As it turns out, most travel is not that expansive and all in all it would be better to buy normal train tickets.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
