Dear Sir,

Please advise,

Our group of 5 adults, 2 youngsters & 3 children will visit Japan on 25th December.
I saw in your website there will be two alternatives 7 day or 14 day JR Pass.
We'll be arrive in Narita on 25th December in the morning. We'll stay in Edogawa four 4 nights.
25th December we will perhaps explore the city (shinjuku, asakusa, Tokyo big sight../do you have other suggestions?).
26th - 27th december we are going to disneyland & disneysea.
28th december perhaps go to yokohama or near by ski resorts (your suggestion pls) :)
29th Dec go to Takayama (Shiragawa-ko), we'll stay near takayama station
30th Dec go to Kyoto, we'll stay in Eco & Tec, Higashiyama-ku Awadaguchi Sanjobo-cho 40 , Kyoto, JP
30th - 31st December we will explore Kyoto & Nara (are there deers & monkeys in Nara during winter time)
1st January we'll go to Osaka, we'll stay in Minamisenba area
2nd January we'll go to Universal Studio Japan
3rd January in the morning we'll go Haneda..sayonara..

Our questions:
1. Can we buy the JR pass online & you send the pass by Fedex to Indonesia?
2. I think we'll take 7 day ticket. So which one is better : 25thDec-1st January2014 or 27thDec-3rdJanuary2014?
3. I saw, that there will be so many lines in Tokyo. If we take aother line than JR, is the JR pass valid?
4. We would like to bring our children to ski resort, not for skiing just playing in snow playground, please advise the near by ski resort that will be fit with our itinerary.

Sorry for too many questions.

Thanks & Regards,

Wan

Hi Wan,

Welcome to the forum and don't worry about asking questions - we are here to help!

Let's begin with your arrival in Tokyo, Shinjuku, Asakusa and Odaiba (big sight) make for a great start. I would recommend adding a visit to Akihabara (Electric town) and the Imperial palace (near Tokyo station). The Tokyo Disney resorts are very nice as well, especially Disney Sea is interesting.
From there Yokohama (be sure to visit it's China town) and consider a visit to Gala Yuzawa for Skiing, it's easy to get to from Tokyo and the route is covered by the JR Pass.

Now to your questions:
1.) Absolutely! We ship to Indonesia, you should recieve the pass within 2 working days. You can order the JR Pass online here.

2.) I would recommand using the JR Pass from the 27th of December - the 3rd of Januari. This because you will have to travel back to Haneda on the last day, which is quite a trip from Osaka and it is best to cover long distance travel with the JR Pass.

3.) All JR lines in Tokyo are covered by the JR Pass, which is enough to see most of the city. Unfortunately other transport such as the Tokyo Metro is not covered. Here is a map with all lines covered.

4.) As mentioned before, I think that Gala Yuzawa makes for a good trip. Hakuba is a popular alternative, although travel takes a little longer there.

I hope this helps!

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for immediate & clear reply.

We hope you do not mind to answer (a few) more questions:
:) 1 We will arrive in Tokyo on 25th Dec in the morning, we have to take Narita express to Koiwa station (JR lines).
We will depart for Singapore from Osaka on 3r Jan 2014.
Which one is easier & cheaper: 7 day JR pass start 25th Dec or start 27th Dec 2013?

  1. We have read the Takayama direction, however we would like to make sure about it.
We have to go to Tokyo station first from Koiwa, take shinkansen to Nagoya. From Nagoya station there is hourly JR to Takayama. The day after, we will go to Kyoto. So, we have to take the same train back to Nagoya, and from Nagoya we take shinkansen to Kyoto. Please correct me if i am wrong. :)

  2. Is Nara worth visiting during winter time? Are there deers in Nara park?

  3. We would like playing in the snow playground (not skiing), however the good scenery is compliments.
so, which one you recommend between Hakuba & Gala Yuzawa.

Thanks & Regards,

Wan

Hi Wan,

Welcome back :) I would use your JR pass starting Dec 27th.

1.) Yes you are correct! The route between Nagoya - Takayama is very scenic btw and one for my favorite rain rides in Japan.

2.) I think so! Nara can be visited year round. It may be a little more quiet during winter, which I think is actually a nice thing. Just be sure to come early as things will close before 17:00.

3.) Unfortunately I am not a Ski-Expert, from what I read Hakuba seems to be the place to be for all things snow. Snow Japan is a great website for all kinds of information regarding winter-sports and I would recommend taking a look at it to get an idea of possibilities.

Hope this helps too!
Daniel
