Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there!

For your hotel in Meguro, the nearest JR station is Shinjuku station. You should aim for here with your JR Pass and then transfer to the non-JR Keio line to do 1 stop to Shinsen station and then walk to the hotel.

For your hotel in Akasaka, the best option is to use the non-JR metro stop at Akasakamitsuke. You should aim for Yotsuya on the JR Yamanote line and then change to the red Marunouchi Metro line to do 1 stop south to Akasakamitsuke.

Here are a set of JR friendly itineraries for you to use. Note that I have assumed you'll start at JR Shinjuku or JR Yotsuya while you are at your hotels in Tokyo:

  1. Narita airport terminal 1 > Shibuya: ¥3,110 (85mins, 93km)
  2. Shibuya > Shin-iwakuni: ¥18,690 (381mins, 936km)
  3. Shin-iwakuni > Sakurajima: ¥14,490 (193mins, 488km)
  4. Sakurajima > Yotsuya: ¥13,550 (240mins, 570km)
  5. Yotsuya > Narita airport terminal 1: ¥1,450 (97mins, 82km)

JR ticket cost: ¥51,290 for 5 legs

You can look up precise train timetables and costs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for JR Pass holders through our video blog.

Hope this helps!
