Hello there,

You will be travelling a good amount from day 1 to 14 and I think that a 14 day JR Pass would be a back help here. The pass covers all your rail travel (the bus to Shirakawago is not included) and you can make nice savings compared to purchasing normal tickets.

I would also recommend a visit to Nikko, while you are in Tokyo. Its a beautiful area and well worth visiting.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
