Hi there,

I have to change the Narita Express at Shibuya and take Den-en-toshi line. I am not familiar with the platforms and connecting trains in Tokyo.

I am worried because i will arrive at Shibuya at around 9-10 PM at night and i will be with a luggage, my other half and a child under 2.

So, could you please tell me, how would i be able to take a Den-toshi train heading to Mizonokuchi from Shibuya.

Is it in the same train station where Narita would leave me? Or, would i have to come out of the station and head somewhere else, or is it only changing the platforms?

How easy or difficult would it be? Please help us with your answer.

Many thanks,
kD

Hi there!

This may be a bit of a challenge as you will have to change train companies, so it can be a bit of a walk at Shibuya station, since you will have to go trough multiple ticket gates. The station has a lot of entrances and routes so I can't give you an exact route. The best thing to do is to follow signs with the Tokyu Den Den Toshi line.

An alternative would be to use to Narita Express to travel to Shinjuku and take the Narita Express to MUSASHI-KOSUGI and take a local train from there to MUSASHI-MIZONOKUCHI which is very close to Mizonokuchi. HERE is an example route.

The last route is also completely covered by the JR Pass, which is very nice too :)

Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for your help. Much appreciated.

Regarding Musashi-Kosugi, upon arrival from Narita Express at this station, would i be able to find a train from another platform for Mizonokuchi? Or Would i have to get out of the station and head somewhere else to get the JR NAMBU LINE for Mizonokuchi?

Looks to me, this is a better route as long as, i don't have to walk outside get a taxi inorder to catch the NAMBU Line for Mizonokuchi.

Many thanks,
KD

Hi KD,

Both lines (Narita Express and Nambu line) are JR so you don't have to change station, so you only have to change platform. Hyperdia unfortunately does not display the platform numers but look for the JR Nambu line bound for Tachikawa. This should be platform 2 according to the JR East website.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
