Hi, My husband and i will be travelling to Japan on 10th October untill the 27th.
We have Japanese friends to stay with for about 8 days, who will take us around a bit. The rest of the time we are on our own (a little scared☺) Ive put together the following itinerary and would like to know if we need a 7 or 14 day JR Pass.

Day1. Narita airport to Tokyo hotel.
Day 2/6 Tokyo to Setagayu-ku friends house. 5 nights
Day7. Setagayu-ku to Kyoto.
Day8. Kyoto sightseeing.
Day9. Kyoto to Osaka and Kobe, return to Kyoto.
Day10. Kyoto to Nara sightseeing return to Kyoto.
Day11. Kyoto to Takayama.
Day12. Takayama to shirakarawa go village, to Setagayu-ku
Day13/16 Setagaya
Day17. Setagayu-ku to Narita hotel for early morning flight next day.

Any suggestions would be helpful, on things to see and transportation ideas. Thankyou.

Hi there,

My recommendation is to use a 7 day JR Pass for day 7 to Day 13. This way you can cover all your long and expancive long distance travel and make very good use of the JR Pass. Your itinerary looks great, I am sure that you'll have a great time in Japan!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
