Hi,

My family of 3 are planning a 7-day trip with this itinerary: Osaka-Kyoto-Tokyo, staying at Osaka for 3 days, a day trip to Kyoto then back to Osaka and then traveling to Tokyo after for the rest of the week. May I get your recommendation on the following:

1) What kind of rail/train/subway passes I should buy to maximize our stay in each city?
2) What train should we take from Kansai Airport to either Shin-Osaka or Namba?
3) What train should we take from Shin-Osaka or Namba to Tokyo?

Your feedback will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
CQC

Hello CQC,

1.) The JR Pass can be used to explore most of Tokyo and Osaka by JR line. Outside of that you can look at a Tokyo metro day pass, or Osaka amazing Pass.

2.) You can use the JR Rapid airport service to Osaka/Shin-Osaka or use the Nankai express to Namba. It is also possible to use the JR to JR-Namba station. By making a transfer at Shin-Imamiya.

3.) The Shinkansen departs directly from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo station.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
