Basically, we will arrive at Narita airport on 8th Nov and need to travel to Hamamatsu.

Going to stay at Hamamatsu for a week and from Hamamatsu we plan to go to Hiroshima.

From Hiroshima back to Tokyo. Is it worth it for us to get JR Pass?

Thanks!

Hi,
You don't give enough info, such as the total number of days of your trip, or how long you will spend in Hiroshima. If you leave Hamamatsu for Hiroshima and return to Tokyo within a week, a 7 day Pass would pay off quite handsomely. If you were thinking of getting a 2 week pass, it is more murky. If you started using your pass from Tokyo to Hiroshima and back, you would be barely able to recover the costs. If from Narita Airport and returned to Narita on the Narita Express Train within 2 weeks, that would help even more.

Sorry. Our trip will be only 10 days. We plan to get JRpass for 7 days. Thus, for first 3 days, we only use normal ticket. Like from Narita to Hamamatsu. We going to stay in Hiroshima probably 2 days only , then return to Tokyo to get flight back.

I would say the 7 days pass is enough for us to get from Hamamatsu> Hiroshima > Tokyo ?

And one more question. Is the JR pass valid for the bus as well? For example, as I'm staying at Hamamatsu for a week, is it i can use the JR pass to ride the bus as well?

Hey Team ,

I have another question to ask.

We planned to go to Hokkaido around 16 Nov . I know it is far from Tokyo. We have ample time to travel via train if it takes about 7-8 hours. Is there any night train from Tokyo to Hokkaido? Bed deck should be better. If yes, do we need to do reservation?

Thanks!

Hi,
If you wanted to go from Tokyo to Sapporo by train, it would take at least 9 hours with a good connection. So of course it is possible, but why would you murder a whole day doing that. Given the distance and train service, it makes more sense in this case to fly - you can take a discount air ticket such as on Jet Star or Peach for as low as ¥4,140 one way (about US$35), be there in 1 hour 45 minutes, and still have the whole day to go sightseeing.
If you want to go all over Hokkaido, renting a car is often the best way, or using a Hokkaido Rail Pass.

Good luck!

Hi Team,

Thanks for your reply!

Hokkaido Rail Pass is not include in the JP Pass right?

They are the same trains and routes, but the Hokkaido Rail Pass only is valid in Hokkaido. It's also much cheaper. You could use a JR Pass up in Hokkaido too of course.
