HYPERDIA: With TRANSFER symbol but NO Arrival / Departure Track

Hi!

I have some questions about Hyperdia. My route is from Kansai Airport Station to Shin-Koiwa Station.
Here is the link:
http://www.hyperdia.com/en/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KANSAI%20AIRPORT&arv_node=SHIN-KOIWA&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2016&month=12&day=15&hour=13&minute=00&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&airplane=off&ship=off&sprnozomi=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7

I am planning to follow Route 1 (see below). It says that I have to transfer twice. The first one, which is "transfer SHIN-OSAKA", an Arrival Track and a Departure Track are indicated. But for the second one, which is "transfer SHINAGAWA", there is NO Arrival and Departure Track. Does it mean I have to stay on the SAME train? Or do I really have to transfer on a DIFFERENT train? If I need tp transfer on a different train, how would I know the Departure Track?

Hi there,

The double arrow means that the train travel on a different line and makes this change at the station indicated (in this case Tokyo). It also means you don't have to leave the train.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your reply!

Sorry, I am a bit confused :( So does it mean I only have to transfer once? Even if Hyperdia says I have to transfer twice?

[DEPARTURE] From Kansai Airport Station to Shin-Osaka > [TRANSFER] transfer on a different track on Shin-Osaka > from Shin-Osaka to Shinagawa > [TRANSFER] (Hyperdia says TRANSFER on Shinagawa Station, but I should just stay on the SAME train?) > [2 GRAY ARROWS POINTING DOWN] from Shinagawa to Tokyo to Shin-Koiwa (no need to transfer, just stay on the train).

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,
Jorelle

Hi Jorelle,

You will have 2 transfers in the above itinerary. One at Shin-Osaka and one at Shinagawa station.

Does that make sense?

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Ahh I see. Got it! Thanks! So that means I will be transferring on a different train in Shinagawa Station, too. But how would I know which departure track in Shinagawa Station?

Thank you and Best Regards,
Jorelle
