Hi there.

First time I have visited Japan and my Itinerary is as below. Sorry for the level of questions afterwards!

Tokyo 2 nights
Osaka 2 nights
Hiroshima 2 nights
Kyoto 2 nights
Tokyo 1 night

My question is simply does a JR Rail pass cover the travel between them all? Plus too and from Narita to Tokyo?

Plus if I want to get off (at Fuji on the way to Osaka for example) on the way and then back on can I?

Also how much internal travel does it include around the cities?

The website seemed to indicate that anything on the map was valid for travel.

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Hi Ru!

Welcome to the forum, the JR Pass does indeed cover travel between all these places and you get to ride the bullet train most of the time! With the JR Pass you can hop on and off the train as you like, so making a stop over to view Fuji is no problem at all!

The JR Pass also covers local travel within Tokyo and Osaka on the JR Network, which is very extensive and will get you to most places. In addition you can also use the pass for a limited extend around Kyoto to places such as Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari and Uji.

Hope this helps and have a great time in Japan!

Hi Daniel.

Wonderful Thanks for your help I have just bought it today and my arrival date is the 09th June so, sorry for the Novice question, but I guess that is the day I put on the railpass and it will last 14 days from then If I validate it on day one as I arrive at Narita?

Also another question when I receive my confirmation in the post in the next few days do I need to do anything after that before arriving in Japan? Again the website seemed to suggest going to London or something but I might have read that wrong??

Anyway if you don't mind clearing up those few points your help is really appreciated thank you so much.

Thanks.

Ru.

Hi Ru!

Thank you for ordering the JR Pass! You can activate the JR Pass at any moment when you are in Japan. You could do so upon arrival but be sure to be back in Tokyo before the pass expires. This way you cover all your expansive travel and make the most of your pass.

You don't have to do anything once you receive your order. Just bring it to Japan and activate it there :)

Hope this clears things up!
