hi there guys =D

first of all thank you so much for this site you did help me a lot here =)

I need some help if I should get JR pass or not in my trip, and I am planing in going to japan 1st of august, I don't think I can avoid that, is it a good time to be in japan?

in these days when is the best time to use the train to avoid crowd?

with my green JR pass do I have to reserved seat ahead of time?

even with my JR pass do I still have to take ticket for train? or I just hop in the train with just the pass?

should I make my flight land in tokyo instead of kansai?

is Takyubin easy to use? can I give my stuff to the hotel so they can send them to my next one?

my plan trip is going to be like this...

first day: take off to japan

second day: I will arrive around 18:00 at kansai airport and will stay in the hotel there, I will activate my SIM from there and plan my Takyubin.

third day: at 8:00 going to osaka Universal Studios Japan and will stay there for one day.

fourth day: at 8:00 going to kyoto, stay there.

fifth day: still in kyoto =D

sixth day: at 7:00 going to Hakone and will stay there for a day.

seventh day: at 7:00 going to Lake Yamanaka.

eighth day: still in Lake Yamanaka

ninth day: going to Yokohama

tenth day: at 8:00 going to Zoorasia and at 18:00 go to tokyo.

11-13: stay at tokyo for a really heavy shopping there and go back to kansai airport around 18:00.

14: bye bye japan =)

when is it best to use my green JR pass for 7 days? if I am missing out here or you want to add any suggest go ahead I don't mind.

thanks a lot.

Hi there!

That's a lot of questions :) Let's start with the use of a JR Pass, I do think that a 7 day JR Pass may be helpful, especially if you do decide to go for the Green Pass. However right now it would not match your planning unfortunately. The key to using a JR Pass is well is by using it to cover your long distance travel, especially if this is done using the Shinkansen. In your case this would be the period where you travel from Kyoto - Hakone until you return to Kansai (airport). Which is a period of 8 days while the JR Pass only lasts for 7. You could either buy normal tickets for your travel, as that's the best option right now or consider changing your plan to return to Kansai within 7 days and use a JR pass. An other option would be to land at Kansai Airport buy a one way ticket to Tokyo and fly-out from there. This last could be the most economic option if your airfare stays the same.

Now to luggage and the takQ-bin service, this is absolutely awesome. Nearly all hotels have this service set up, just give your luggage pay a small fee (around 1,500yen for a suitcase) and have it shipped to your next stop.

For the rest your plan looks great! Let me know if I can help with anything else :)

thanks a lot man =) you really did helped us a lot here because I read a lot of questions from here =D, if you my please answer to just these two question:

in these days when is the best time to use the train to avoid crowd? "I mean from 1-14 of august"
with my green JR pass do I have to reserved seat ahead of time?

my wife doesn't like the train to be crowded this is very important to her, it is a deal breaker.

thanks again.

Hi again!

August is generally not very busy so I don't think that you really have to worry about crowds, especially when you travel using Green cars, which are never busy. Do note though that Green Seats are all reserved seats and you should get a ticket before boarding the train. This can be done up to 5 min before departure.

Happy to help :)
